AIKOL Press 1990 January Edition

*This publication is graciously donated by former board members of both Law Majalla & Aikol Press

During the 1989/90 Law Society lineup, Madam Fakihah Azahari was the head of the Information Secretariat. She was in charge of the newsletter for the law students and the Law Majallah. She and her editorial members came up with the name ‘Legal Press’ for the newsletter. The Legal Press was a monthly publication and the editorial members rotated amongst themselves to take the role of chief editor. The Chief Editor was responsible for choosing the theme/topics for each publication; the editorial members wrote the articles, edited written contributions, designed the layout, prepare posters to advertise each monthly publications around campus, attended to the printing and its distribution.

In one of the publications entitled “Freedom of the Press the editorial dealt with the issue of sacking of one the faculty members. That issue received a lot of attention from students and the university administrative; especially as the issue discussed in the publication was something the administration was not comfortable with. These were interesting times for the editorial board, they had the opportunity to explore their role as the mouthpiece for the law students and how to balance between interests of the students and the university administration.

Therefore, we invite alumnus especially former editorial members both from Legal Press and the Law Majallah to share their thoughts on their experience on the editorial boards and motivate future editorial boards to continue the legacy of AIKOL.

Former Editor in Chief.
